<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic apparatus which gives speedy operational feelings without any sense of incompatibility and has functional operability more quick-responsive to an actual style of use of a user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The portable electronic apparatus includes: a rotary dial portion 41 mounted to a housing rotatably around a predetermined rotation axis; a rotation detection portion 201 for detecting rotation; an application activation processing portion 202 for activating a predetermined application based on the rotation detected by the rotation detection portion 201; a device confirming portion 203 for confirming a device to be used for the application activated by the application activation processing portion 202; a determination portion 204 for determining whether the device confirmed by the device confirming portion 203 is identical to a device which is being activated when start of rotation is detected; and a control portion 205 for controlling to maintain the device being activated in an activation state when the determination portion 204 determines that the devices are identical.
