<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel pump control device reducing the starting time of a fuel pump when an engine is started and also detecting the abnormality of a signal input line, while suppressing the complication of a structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A resistor R1 fixes the signal input line 7 to the electric potential of a power wire 13 until a control signal is applied from an ECU 3. A control circuit 6 applies the maximum voltage to the fuel pump 1 when it is detected that an electric potential fixed state is continued for a first period only. Thereby, when the engine is started, voltage application to the fuel pump 1 is started from a period with no control signal applied from the ECU 3, and the fuel pump 1 is immediately started. The control circuit 6 determines that the signal input line 7 is abnormal when it is detected that the electric potential fixed state is continued for a second period only.
