<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader with a hollow light guiding body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image reader includes: an LED unit 500 for irradiating an original G with light; and the hollow light guiding part 400 arranged between the LED unit 500 and the original G, and having incident ports 411 and 421 arranged on the LED unit 500 side, emitting ports 412 and 422 arranged on the original G side, and a hollow part (upper light guiding space 410S and lower light guiding space 420S) connecting the incident ports 411 and 421 with the emitting ports 412 and 422 and emitting light from the LED unit 500, made to enter from one end side, from the other end side.
