<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measurement assisting device for a steel square that allows the application of a widely available steel square as a jig for mounting a flange F to a pipe P at a right angle, and moreover, flexibly corresponds to the flange size and the pipe size. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The measurement assisting device 1 for a steel square is mounted to the long side N of a steel square K. The flange F is applied at the end of the pipe P so as to bring each contact part 5 of the measurement assisting device 1 for a steel square, mounted to the steel square K, into contact with the outer peripheral part of the pipe P and to bring the short side T into contact with a mating face Fa of the flange F. While carefully paying attention in order to prevent a gap from opening between each contact part 5 and the outer peripheral part of the pipe P, the posture of the flange F is adjusted so as to make the posture into a state of preventing a gap from opening between the short side T and the flange F. When it is in the state of preventing a gap from opening between the short side T and the flange F while being in the state of preventing a gap from opening between each contact part 5 and the outer peripheral part of the pipe P, an angle θ formed by the flange F and the axis line J of the pipe P becomes a right angle.
