PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of suppressing the unevenness of a light quantity caused by light leaked from a light guide in a read image, and to provide an image forming device having the image reader. SOLUTION: The image reader 300 includes a light transmissive member 335 having a placing surface 302A for placing an original document G, a light emitting section 501 disposed at a side opposite to the placing surface 302A in the light transmissive member 335 and emitting light emitted to a predetermined irradiation position I in the placing surface 302A of the light transmissive member 335, a light guide 505 for guiding light from the light emitting section 501 to the irradiation position I, and a supporting member 502 for supporting the light emitting section 501 and having a light filtering section 502a disposed on a straight line K connecting the light emitting section 501 to the irradiation position I.
