PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which prevents damage on an optical disk and an optical disk device even if two or more optical disks are loaded. SOLUTION: The optical disk device is provided with: a driving means 2 rotating and driving an optical disk 1, means (9, 11) detecting that two or more optical disks are loaded, means (11, 3) stopping rotary drive by the driving means 2 when the detecting means (9, 11) detects the two or more optical disks loaded, and means (11, 13) for informing that rotary drive is stopped.
