<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera capable of acquiring suitable images, when images are acquired before and after an operation indicative of photographing start. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic camera includes an operation member, an imaging portion, a light emission portion, a recording portion and a control portion. The operation member can perform a first operation and a second operation. The imaging portion takes an image for an object and acquires the image. The light emission portion emits light towards the object. The recording portion can record the image acquired by the imaging portion. The control portion detects the first operation and the second operation. If the first operation is detected, the control portion controls the light emission portion to emit light and performs exposure operation based on light from the object. If the second operation is detected, the control portion controls the light emission portion to emit light and records the image acquired by the imaging portion on the recording portion.
