[Class 83 (iii)] The taper shank 4 of a tool or tool-holder 5 is clamped within a socket 1 by means of cam members 17 which are movable simultaneously radially of the socket for wedging engagement with V-shaped notches 20 formed on the taper shank. The cam members are movable reversibly in a slot 25 by means of a rotatable adjusting screw 32 having screw threads 33, 34 of opposite hand. The inner end of the taper shank is provided with a groove 22 so that as the cam members are retracted they partially eject the taper shank. The tool-holder 5 is formed with notches 11 which are engageable by keys 12 on the socket 1 to form a driving connection for the tool-holder. Outward movement of the cam members is limited by abutments 38. |
