<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve various technical problems at once which have been difficult to solve by a containerless method or a container method in an X-ray analyzer which irradiates a very small target particle, such as, a single molecule of protein with an X-ray beam. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An X-ray analyzer includes a probe-type measuring means 2 for measuring the position and shape of a target particle P held in a holding substrate 1; a moving mechanism 3 for holding a probe 2a of the probe-type measuring means 2, in such a way as to move between a measuring position capable of measuring the target particle P and a retracted position, a position which does not interfere with the irradiation of the target particle with an X-ray beam by an X-ray irradiation mechanism; and a position adjusting mechanism 5 for adjusting the relative position of the holding substrate 1 and the X-ray irradiation mechanism. The relative position of the holding substrate 1 and the X-ray irradiation mechanism is adjusted to the target particle P, of which the position is predetermined by the probe-type measuring means 2 so as to enable it to irradiate X-ray beam.
