<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector which can certainly and smoothly remove liquid adherent to a liquid ejection head, and prevent a wiper and a nozzle from extremely being worn. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A regulation member selecting device 13 moves a wiper 12 by a predetermined width along the sub-scanning direction. Thereby, when the wiper 12 and a recording head 2 move relatively, engaging members 38, 38 of the wiper 12 move while contacting with first regulation members 33a, 33a (first moving routes), or move while contacting with second regulation members 33b, 33b (second moving routes) in a selectable manner.
