PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid torque fluctuation caused by variation of intake air quantity among cylinders during light load operation, in a cylinder injection spark ignition internal combustion engine mainly controlling intake air quantity by an intake valve equipped with a variable valve train, without executing ignition retarding control or the like causing deterioration of fuel economy. SOLUTION: Fuel injection timing is controlled independently for each cylinder based on calculated intake air quantity for each cylinder and timing for closing an intake valve during light load operation in the cylinder injection spark ignition internal combustion engine.
