<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide vessel or tissue sealing system and method. <P>SOLUTION: An electrosurgical generator for tissue fusion includes: an RF output stage adapted to supply electrosurgical energy to an electrosurgical instrument, the electrosurgical instrument including at least one active electrode adapted to apply electrosurgical energy to tissue; impedance sensing circuitry configured to measure impedance of tissue; and a processor configured to determine whether a tissue reaction has occurred as a function of a minimum impedance value and a predetermined rise in impedance, wherein the tissue reaction corresponds to a boiling point of tissue fluid, the processor is configured to interrupt the supply of electrosurgical energy to tissue to implement a cooling period and indicate the end of the cooling period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
