<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize information relating to characters which are superimposed on images and displayed. <P>SOLUTION: A header removal part 41 removes the header of a PES packet configuring a subtitle stream and generates ES data. A subtitle management decoder 43 and a subtitle sentence decoder 44 perform decomposition into data units which are unit data configuring data supplied from the header removal part 41. A data unit decoder 45 decodes each data unit and generates information relating to subtitles such as various control information. A phonetic transcription discrimination part 46 discriminates whether each of characters included in the subtitle is a phonetic transcription, and adds information indicating whether each of the characters included in the subtitle is a phonetic transcription to the information stored in a subtitle information storage buffer 47. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
