<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pressure container from being broken even when an internal pressure increases in generating a gas. <P>SOLUTION: This inflator 1 for an airbag is internally provided with an igniter 3 supported by at least an adapter 2b in a pressure container 2 integrally jointing the adapter 2b and a diffuser 2a with a base 2c; a gas generating agent 5, and a filter 6 arranged along an internal periphery of a side wall of the pressure container 2. The adapter 2b includes a collar near a joint Y2 to the base 2c. A gap is provided between the outer peripheral end of the collar part and the base 2c. Or, the outer peripheral end of the collar is formed into a chamfering shape or a corner shape, so as to bring the outer peripheral end of the collar part with the base. When the internal pressure increases and the pressure container is deformed, the deformation amount of the base becomes large, so that stress concentration generated to the base can be restrained, preventing the breakage of the pressure container. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
