PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control device for a vehicle, stabilizing steering response characteristics considering the behavior of the vehicle. SOLUTION: Using a steering speedθ' obtained by differentiating a steering angleθsupplied from a differentiator 42 by time and a vehicle speed V, a coupled compensation torque calculation unit 41 calculates a target converging assist torque Tas to reduce (cancel) a non-steady response component depending on the steering speedθ' and the vehicle speed V. Using a differential value V' obtained by differentiating the vehicle speed V supplied from the differentiator 44 by time, a gain calculation unit 43 calculates a gain Kg corresponding to an accelerating state or a deceleration state of the vehicle. A multiplier 45 multiplies the torque Tas supplied from the calculation unit 41 and the gain Kg supplied from the calculation unit 43, and calculates the final required converging assist torque Tas_req.
