PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna element which can vary its directivity depending on the application, can radiate and receive both vertically and horizontally polarized waves, and is of thin type (substantially planarized); and to provide a planar phased-array antenna which includes such the antenna element, and has a desired directivity and capability of radiating and receiving polarized waves. SOLUTION: An antenna device includes a grounding conductor covering one surface of a first dielectric substrate, a first conductive element provided on the other surface of the first dielectric substrate, a second conductive element provided on a second dielectric substrate laminated on the other surface of the first dielectric substrate, a first feeding means connected to the first conductive element and the grounding conductor, and a second feeding means connected to the second conductive element and the grounding conductor. The first and second conductive elements at least partly overlap each other through the second dielectric substrate being interposed therebetween to constitute the antenna device.
