PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target depth measuring apparatus for obtaining highly accurate and stable results of depth measurements by a transmitter/receiver mounted to a ship bottom. SOLUTION: The target depth measuring apparatus is constituted of a transmission part for controlling transmission; a transmission/reception part for transmitting sound waves on the basis of control from the transmission part and receiving signals including a reflected component from a target; a reception part for forming a plurality of beams of directional beams constituted of upper and lower split beams on the basis of received signals from the transmission/reception part; and a target depth measuring part for measuring target depth on the basis of directional beam data from the reception part. By adopting directional beam data of data having a maximum level received by each directional beam, processing moving average in the direction of the temporal axis to adopted data of the upper and lower split beams, and applying a value obtained by accumulating a plurality of pieces of target depth data obtained for each transmission on the basis of the maximum level of reflected signals from the target as the target depth, highly accurate and stable results of depth measurements are obtained in the target depth measuring part.
