<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control the chromaticity and the brightness of white light in a liquid crystal display device which uses a white package light source having an LED element as a backlight light source. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device where a liquid crystal display panel is irradiated with white light generated by mixing blue light from a blue LED element, green light from a green LED element, and red light obtained by exciting a red phosphor with the blue light and the green light, a chromaticity coordinate x value of first light generated by mixing the blue light and the red color obtained by exciting the red phosphor with the blue light and a chromaticity coordinate x value of second light generated by mixing the green light and the red color obtained by exciting the red phosphor with the green light are adjusted to predetermined ranges by the amount of the red phosphor, and the quantity of the blue light and the quantity of the green light are controlled by a current or a voltage to adjust a chromaticity coordinate y value of the white light to a predetermined range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
