PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zooming optical system, an optical apparatus and a manufacturing method for the zooming optical system that implement both an increase in focusing speed and simplification of the focusing mechanism simultaneously by appropriately setting the positions of the focusing lens group. SOLUTION: The zooming optical system has at least a first lens group G1 to a fifth lens group G5 which are disposed in order from an object. The first lens group G1 is divided into at least two subgroups (front group G1F and rear group G1R in Fig.1). The subgroup closest to an image (rear group G1R in Fig.1) is a focusing group, and an aperture stop S is disposed closer to the image side than the fourth lens group G4.
