PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bacterium carrier suitable for a methane fermentation tank by using a carrier having excellent retention capability of methane-producing bacterium: a methane fermentation apparatus using the bacterium carrier: and a method for producing the bacterium carrier.

SOLUTION: The bacterium carrier comprises a carrier having a positive surface charge and a bacterium that is retained on the surface of the carrier and has methane fermentation ability.
