<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing metal oxide particles which can control the average particle diameter of the generated metal oxide particles. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for producing metal oxide particles comprises: a preparing step where, as a metal oxide precursor, a solution of a metal nitrate or an oxidized metal nitrate is prepared; and a heating step where the solution is heated, wherein in the heating step, control is performed in such a manner that a temperature rise rate is made fixed.
