PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily tilt a forming body and an upper transition member without disturbing the flow dynamics of a ribbon and to prevent contact with a transition housing in the drawing of the glass ribbon. SOLUTION: A glass sheet forming apparatus 30 includes the forming body 10. The molten glass overflown from a trough of the forming body 10 flows over converging forming surfaces provided in both sides of the forming body 10 and joined at a root to form the glass ribbon 22. The apparatus 30 further includes an upper transition member 34 defining a first interior space and a lower transition member 38 defining a second interior space and the glass ribbon 22 flows down through the first interior space and the second interior space. The forming body 10 and the upper transition member 34 can be tilted with respect to the horizontal plane. The upper and lower transition members 34, 38 are separated by a gap (δ) less than 8 cm. The gapδis positioned such that viscosity of the glass ribbon adjacent to the gap is equal to or less than about 10<SP>7.3</SP>poise. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
