SECOND HARMONIC GENERATION DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high output second harmonic generation device and a method of manufacturing the same.

SOLUTION: The second harmonic generation device includes a periodic structure optical waveguide 12 comprising at least one single mode waveguide 12a and at least one multi mode interference waveguide 12b which is optically coupled to the single mode waveguide 12a. The single mode waveguide 12a and the multi mode interference waveguide 12b repeat for n (n is a natural number) periods with a periodΛ, wherein the periodΛis equal to even multiples of a coherence length.
