PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant resin composition satisfying all of properties suitable as a plastic material for mechanical parts, including high rigidity, high strength, high dimensional precision, low anisotropy, good flame retardancy, as well as good moldability, mold releasability and thermal stability in good balance. SOLUTION: This flame-retardant resin composition comprises (A) a thermoplastic resin (Component A) excluding polyphenylene sulfide, (B) an ester compound (Component B) between a multimer comprising pentaerythritol and a divalent aliphatic carboxylic acid and a long chain aliphatic carboxylic acid and/or an aromatic monocarboxylic acid, (C) a flame retardant (Component C), (D) an inorganic filler (Component D), and (E) a fluorine-containing drip inhibitor (Component E), wherein these components satisfy the following condition (a): Component A of 98.99-11 wt.%; Component B of 0.01-2 wt.%; Component C of 0.1-25 wt.%; Component D of 0-60 wt.% and Component E of 0-2 wt.%, respectively per 100 wt.% total of components A to E.
