PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a levelness detecting instrument for easily confirming moving levelness of a radiation detector in a water phantom and obtaining the levelness as numerical data. SOLUTION: The levelness detecting instrument including a cylindrical body 13 storing a vertically movable floater 11 floating on water and given a mark 12 on the side thereof for observing vertical movements, the cylindrical body being provided with a window 14 on the side thereof allowing observation of the vertical movements of the mark 12, a mounting portion 15 for mounting this cylindrical body 13 to a scanning portion of a three-dimensional water phantom scanner, and an electronic camera 16 to be mounted to the window, sends image information obtained by photographing the mark 12 to a computer 18 via a cable 17, displays on a screen thereof the numerical data of vertical positions of the mark 12 versus a position of the scanning portion, and displays a moving locus of the mark on coordinates having a moving direction of the scanning portion and a moving direction of the mark as orthogonal axes.
