<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a capacitance voltage signal to a holding capacitance line, in a proper manner, while suppressing increase in the circuit area. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An electrooptical device (101) has a capacitance line (SC), and a capacitance line drive circuit (5) which is provided with a capacitance line drive unit (51). The capacitance line drive unit has a first element (NT1), to which a polarity signal (POL) is input to a gate; a second element (NT2) to which an inverted polarity signal (XPOL) is input to a gate; a latch circuit (12), whose terminals (Q, /Q) are connected to the sources of first and second elements; a third element (NT3), to which a scanning signal of a row of a subsequent stage is input to a gate, and whose source is connected to the drains of the first and second elements and whose drain is connected to a low-level power source (VEE); and supply circuits (13, PT1, NT8), that supply either a first or second signal (VOCMH, VCOML) to the capacitance line, according to the potential level of one of the terminals of the latch circuit.
