摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for directly detecting the amount of toner deposited on the surface of the image forming element, thereby to provide more powerful tools for self-diagnosis and/or self-correction in an image forming device and process. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image forming device comprises an image forming element (10) moving past an image forming station (12) in which toner is deposited on the surface of the image forming element (10), the image forming element (10) has at least one electrode (22, 24) extending over a prescribed surface area (20) of the image forming element, and characterized by further comprising at least one impedance/capacitance measuring circuit (42, 58, 60, 64) measuring the amount of toner deposited on the prescribed surface area (20) on the basis of a resulting change in the impedance/capacitance of the electrode (22, 24).
