<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photovoltaic power system which can increase the total amount of electric power generated in a building without increasing the number of solar battery modules placed in the building. <P>SOLUTION: A photovolatic power system includes a solar battery module 1, a moving mechanism 2 for translating the solar battery module 1 along the outer surface of a building T, a plurality of sensors 3 for receiving light which acquires a physical quantity correlated with the magnitude of optical energy, a means 41 for selecting the position of power generation which selects an appropriate region appropriate for photovolatic power generation, and a means 42 for controlling movement which controls the moving mechanism 2. The plurality of sensors 3 for receiving light are arranged along a range in which the solar battery module 1 can be moved. A means 41 for selecting the position of power generation selects a region corresponding to the sensor 3 for receiving light which acquires the largest physical quantity as the appropriate region.
