<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid fuel by effective utilization of wastes such as paper making sludge, waste materials of scraped constructions, wastes from lumbermills or wookwork processing factories, and forest land-remaining materials, wherein the solid fuel shows good ignition performance, has moderate fire power for home heating, and is long-life, and is easy to handle, and of low price. <P>SOLUTION: To 100 wt.% of a mixture in which 30 to 50 wt.% of paper sludge, and 70 to 50 wt.% of woody wastes are mixed after its water adjustment, 0.7 to 0.9 wt.% of a binder is added, to provide the solid fuel 1 that is a molded article by pressure forming. The binder is a starch-based binder. The molded article is formed with the longitudinal V-shaped groove 2 extending over the total lengthwise direction of the longitudinal direction length, as well as the lateral V-shaped groove 3 extending over the total lateral direction length to form a cross shape with the longitudinal V-shaped groove 2. The molded article is provided with a plurality of perforations 4 by perforating it from the upper to the lower direction of the article.
