PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a vehicle capable of restricting lowering of the number of revolution of an input shaft of a continuously variable transmission when returning from a manual shift mode to linear shift control in regard to a control device for a vehicle which executes the linear shift control. SOLUTION: In the case wherein an accelerator opening acc when requesting down-shift by operating an accelerator pedal is an accelerator opening for linear shift control (acc≥Thacc), a condition of return determination is changed, and when the target input rotation speed in linear shift control Nintlin reaches the target input rotation speed in manual shift or more, a determination that a condition for return determination is satisfied is made, and control is returned to the linear shift control. With such control, lowering of the rotation speed of the input shaft (engine speed) of the continuously variable transmission can be prevented at the return, and sufficient driving force relative to a request for acceleration by a driver can be obtained.
