<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability at the time of automatic dubbing in a recorder. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When there is a title not subjected to dubbing (YES in S4) concerning programs included in an automatic dubbing setting list, a hard disc recorder discriminates whether or not a mounted optical disc is a dubbing-enable disc. As the result, when the optical disc allows dubbing (YES in S5), the recorder discriminates whether or not the disc is for a program of a title of dubbing (S6) based on a volume label of the optical disc and volume label information memorized in a memory. When the disc is for the program (YES in S7), the hard disc recorder carries out automatic dubbing of the title not dubbed yet, for example, in the chronological order (S10) when it is not currently reserved (NO in S8) and when dubbing processing finishes before the start of reserved recording (YES in S9).
