PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal joint capable of increasing rigidity of a coupling arm around a bearing hole for pivotally supporting a cross shaft, having a reduced interference amount with the other coupling arm to be coupled with the cross shaft, and increasing the folding angle of the universal joint. SOLUTION: Since the coupling arms 52, 52 have a cross section in a direction orthogonal to an axis of a coupling cylinder 53 which has a convex arc shape at the outside in a radial direction, rigidity is increased though the width dimension of the coupling arms 52, 52 is small, so that the interference amount with the other coupling arm to be coupled with the cross shaft 7 is reduced and the folding angle of the universal joint is increased. A protrusion 58 is protruded at the inside in the radial direction and a length in the direction of the shaft for pivotally supporting a bearing is increased so that the supporting rigidity of the bearing is increased.
