Optical glass comprises silicon dioxide (SiO 2, 20-30 wt.%), diboron trioxide (B 2O 3, 0.5-10 wt.%), aluminum trioxide (Al 2O 3, 0.5-8 wt.%), lanthanum(III) oxide (10-20 wt.%), niobium(V) oxide (8-18 wt.%), calcium oxide (CaO, 18-28 wt.%), zinc oxide (ZnO, 1-8 wt.%), titanium dioxide (4-12 wt.%) and zirconium oxide (0.5-6 wt.%). Independent claims are included for: (1) a pressed gob formed from the optical glass, where the gob is pressable after reheating; and (2) producing an optical element comprising precision molding of the optical glass.
