Radiation imaging apparatus

A radiation imaging apparatus comprises a flat panel detector to derive a radiation image based on incident radiation, a holding unit which holds the detector, and a connecting mechanism for performing a connecting and disconnecting between the holding unit and the detector. The detector derives the radiation image at a state that the detector is removed from the holding unit, and also at a state that the detector is held by the holding unit. The detector can be controlled so that the maximum number of images derived by a continuous radiography that the detector can perform at the state that the detector is removed from the holding unit is smaller than the maximum number of images derived by the continuous radiography that the detector can perform at the state that the detector is held by the holding unit.
