Piston compressor

The compressor has multiple of cylinders (1, 10) provided corresponding to compressor stages. Each cylinder comprises an inner liner (10.2) made of gray iron, and an outer liner (10.1) made of aluminum. The cylinder (10) exhibits an annular gap (10.3) between the inner liner and the outer liner. The gap has an inlet and outlet for a cooling medium e.g. water. A housing is made of aluminum, and the annular gap extends over a portion of length of the cylinder (10) or over an entire cylinder length or over a stroke of a piston (20). A cooling device (13) is provided for cooling gas.
