Fuel injector with piezoelectric actuator and hydraulic coupler

The injector has a hydraulic coupler (25) with a working piston (28) coupled to a coupling piston (27) over a coupler-gap volume (29), where the coupler-gap volume is fillable with fuel i.e. diesel, over a filling channel (38). The coupling piston opens and closes the filling channel. The hydraulic coupler corresponds to a piezoelectric actuator that actuates the coupling piston. The filling channel is formed by a coupler body (33) extending from the coupling piston. The coupler-gap volume is connected with a low pressure region (22) over the filling channel.
