PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a computer-readable storage medium are provided to generate electronic document data proper to the highlight expression easily recognized by a user without depending on the shape/color of an object or the image compression state. CONSTITUTION: A selection division unit(301) extracts an object section from an inputted image, and a judgment unit judges the attribution of the object section. A metadata processing unit(304) obtains the metadata associated with the object section. A graphic description generating unit generates the transparent graphic technique for the object section. An electronic document generating unit associates the transparent graphic technique with the metadata to generate an electronic document including image data and the transparent graphic technique.
