PURPOSE: A composition containing garlic sugar pickle extract is provided to reduce blood glucose and to prevent and treat diabetes. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for reduce blood glucose and preventing and treating diabetes contains garlic sugar pickle extract as an active ingredient. A method for producing the garlic sugar pickle extract comprises: a step of mixing white sugar, black sugar, honey, or mixture thereof with garlic in a weight ratio of 0.1 : 1-1 : 10(w/w); a step of fermenting at 10-50°C for one month to 12 months; and a step of filtering and concentrating the fermentation. A health food for preventing and treating diabetes contains the garlic sugar pickle extract as an active ingredient. The health food is manufactured in a form of powder, granule, tablet, capsule, or beverage.
