The method involves realizing exothermic and endothermic reactions i.e. hydrogen producing reactions, within a catalyst of an exhaust gas recirculation line in an engine e.g. internal combustion engine, of a vehicle. Thermal balance of gas obtained from the exothermic and endothermic reactions is determined at an outlet of the catalyst. The exothermic and endothermic reactions are developed based on the determined thermal balance of the gas. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle comprising an engine.
