PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing a ring back tone service by a sender's terminal are provided to enable a sender to select ring back tone content through a ring back tone menu by transmitting the ring back tone content menu to a receiver from a ring back tone server. CONSTITUTION: If a call connection request of an originating terminal(20) is received from a call controller(30), a ring back tone server(40) transmits a ring back tone content menu of a receiving terminal to the originating terminal. The ring back tone service server received from the originating terminal the transmission request of selected ring back tone content selected from the ring back tone content menu. The ring back tone server transmits the selected ring back tone content to the originating terminal.
