PURPOSE: An air conditioner and an outdoor unit is provided to enable the free selection on the installation location of a distributing unit distributing refrigerant to an indoor unit installed in an air conditioning space. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises a plurality of indoor units, an outdoor unit(100c), and a distributing unit(200c). The outdoor unit comprises a compressor, an outdoor heat exchanger and an outdoor unit housing. The distributing unit comprises an indoor connecting part(270c) connected to the indoor unit and an outdoor connecting part(250c) connected to the outdoor unit and is detachably installed to the outdoor unit. The distributing unit is installed in the state accepted in the outdoor unit housing. The distributing unit comprises a distributing unit housing and the distributing unit housing is installed in the accepting space(130c) formed by the recess(120c) formed on the outer surface of the outdoor unit housing. The distributing unit housing has a shape corresponding to the recess of the outdoor unit housing.
