PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an attitude controller compact, which is used to control an attitude of a detector. SOLUTION: The attitude controller 100 includes: a holding member 2 which is supported swingably through an X-axis (first axis) in a trunnion frame (case) 8, and holds a seismometer (detector) 1; a clamp mechanism 5 for clamping the holding member; and a drive section 4 for rotating the holding member 2 around a Y-axis (second axis) perpendicularly intersecting with the X-axis. A control section (first axis control means) activates the drive section to rotate the holding member 2 around the Y-axis until a detecting section 3 detects the state that the X-axis becomes parallel to a horizontal plane. Another control section (second axis control means) causes the clamp mechanism 5 to release the clamp of the holding member 2 after the control operation of the first axis control means, and causes the clamp mechanism 5 to clamp the holding member 2 after a prescribed time elapsed.
