<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas cutting method for a continuously cast slab, in gas cutting for the continuously cast slab, where cutting speeds (the moving speeds of gas blow pipes) are suitably controlled so as to evade the failure of cutting. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the method where the continuously cast slab after casting is gas-cut to a prescribed length, (i) on both the sides of the cutting position of the slab, the temperature distribution from the lower edge part on the short side of the slab to the vicinity of the central part of the long side including the upper edge part is measured, and (ii), on the basis of the temperature distribution, the speeds of gas blow pipes moving from the short side of the slab to the central part thereof are continuously controlled, respectively.
