<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a profitable and high calorie solid fuel by using vegetable materials which are defective in profitability and properties as fuels, such as wood which is expensive, and rice straw, chaff, reed, etc., which is low-calorie. <P>SOLUTION: A mixture of livestock excreta such as poultry manure and vegetable materials is further mixed with charcoal, which is compressed and solidified to obtain a solid fuel. As vegetable materials, tree bark, wood materials other than tree bark, rice straw or reed or other grasses, or chaff can be arbitrarily used. The mixture may also be litter in cattle houses.
