摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thin film, which is excellent in transparency, adhesiveness to a base material, and uniformity and has high photocatalytic activity not only in an ultraviolet light range but also in a visible light range, by a simple process. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the thin film of the photocatalyst, titanium oxide powder, which contains 0.2-25 mass% niobium or tantalum, exhibits≥50% maximum reflectance in the visible light range in diffuse reflectance spectra and has≤1/2 reflectance of the maximum reflectance in the visible light range when receives the light of 1,000-2,500 nm wavelength, is pulverized into fine particles having≤100 nm average particle size, and dispersion liquid having the titanium oxide fine particles dispersed in a solvent is applied to a substrate and then dried to form the thin film.
