PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broad woven fabric not being subjected to hardening process and fray being difficult to occur thereon which allows a plurality of narrow width fabrics to be simultaneously produced out of it by slitting the broad woven fabric in its longitudinal direction with the selvage portions caused to be produced by the slitting. SOLUTION: A selvage fray preventing woven fabric 1 is such that a base fabric composed of ground weft yarns 3 and ground warp yarns 2 is formed with at least one row of cutting region 12' thereon, extending along the base fabric in the longitudinal direction, which becomes a selvage for the cut strip after cutting. The ground weft yarns include at least a fiber (A) of melting nature at a low melting point, with the ground warp yarns being composed of a fiber not melting at the temperature at which the fiber (A) of melting nature is subjected to melting. For the cutting region, binding yarns 4, 5 including a fiber (B) of melting nature having at least a melting point equivalent to that of the fiber (A) of melting nature are inserted in the direction of the warp yarns so that a section can be formed wherein the binding yarns in the direction of the thickness of the base fabric, ground warp yarns, and ground weft yarns are crossed in this sequence, thus forming a leno weave composition. In addition, the ground warp yarns are fusion bonded with the binding yarns and ground weft yarns at least in the section wherein the respective yarns are crossed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
