<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of enhancing cleaning properties while reducing detergent remnants and unevenness of washing and saving water by turning the wash upside down and making the wash change positions. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The washing machine includes a washing/spin-drying tub 3 rotatably provided inside a rest tub 1, rotary vanes 2 rotatably disposed in the bottom inside the tub 3, a drive means 9 for rotation-driving the tub 3 or the vanes 2 and a control means 21 for sequentially controlling a series of processes such as washing, rinsing and spin-drying. The control means 21, when reversely driving the vanes 2 through turning the means 9 on/off, sets the number of revolutions of right-handed rotations different from those of left-handed rotations in a single reversal. Thereby the washing machine reduces the detergent remnants or unevenness of washing, realizing water saving and improvement of the cleaning properties. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
