摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize emission timing of each light source in accordance with conditions such as changes caused by lapse of time in a backlight having a plurality of light sources to irradiate a liquid crystal display panel with light. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A light source drive circuit 40 drives light sources 31-1 to 31-n corresponding to first to n-th regions. Each region includes a corresponding photosensor 51-1 to 51-n. The light source drive circuit 40 also controls the emission timing of light sources in such a manner that the time when a scanning line belonging to the region corresponding to a given light source is first selected coincides with the time when brightness detected by the photosensor provided in the region of the light source changes from a bright side to a dark side and reaches a predetermined threshold.
