PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyphenylene ether resin composition which is excellent in light discoloring resistance and desirable in the environmental aspect and in view of safety and health. SOLUTION: The polyphenylene ether composition comprises 1 to 50 pts.mass of (A) a polyphenylene ether, 50 to 99 pts.mass of (B) a styrenic resin, and 0 to 40 pts.mass of (C) a phosphorus-based flame retardant, and comprises 0 to 5 pts.mass of (D) a light stabilizer to 100 pts.mass of the total of the (A), the (B) and the (C). The polyphenylene ether composition is fabricated by melting and kneading the mixture. The (A) polyphenylene ether contains 0.8 or less unit of a predetermined molecular terminal structural unit having a hydroxyl group per 100 units of a phenylene ether unit.
