PROCESS FOR PRODUCING DIFLUOROMETHYLCARBONYL COMPOUND

A process for producing a difluoromethylcarbonyl compound represented by general formula (1): CHF2C(=O)R2 (1) (wherein R2 represents a fluorine atom, hydroxy, or an alkoxy) which involves a first thermal decomposition step in which a 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethoxy compound represented by the general formula CHF2CF2OR1 (wherein R1 represents a monovalent organic group) is thermally decomposed, the process involving a second thermal decomposition step in which the fluorine compound represented by the general formula R1F (wherein R1 is the same as defined above) produced in the first thermal decomposition step is brought into contact with a phosphoric acid salt (pyrolysis catalyst) to decompose the compound. The fluorine compound can be efficiently decomposed in this second thermal decomposition step.
